§ 70-643. Definitions.

  • The following words, terms and phrases, when used in this article, shall have the meanings ascribed to them in this section, except where the context clearly indicates a different meaning:

    Business center means a group of three or more businesses, including retail, restaurant, office, service uses, that share a common vehicular access.

    Fast-food restaurants means restaurants where food and drink are usually previously or rapidly prepared, and food is served directly to the customer ready to be consumed on the premises or taken out. They principally supply food and beverages in disposable containers. They are characterized by high automobile and pedestrian volumes with drive-through facilities. Typically they include self-service and short stays by customers. They are usually located in separate freestanding buildings.

    Overhang means the overlapping of either the front or rear bumper of a vehicle over a sidewalk, street, alley or right-of-way when a vehicle is parked in a parking space.

    Parking area means an open space or an enclosed structure used primarily for the temporary storage of automobiles.

    Quick-serve restaurants means restaurants where food and drink are usually prepared to order, orders are taken at a counter, food is picked up by the customer or served by waitstaff, and food may be consumed on premises, taken out or delivered. They may supply food and beverages in either disposable or nondisposable containers. They are characterized by moderate automobile and pedestrian volumes with no drive-through facilities. Typically they include self or minimal waiter service, and moderate stays by customers. They are usually located at in-line tenant spaces.

    Supermarket means a retail store with a floor area greater than 5,000 square feet that offers for sale a complete line of food and domestic products.
