§ 2-523. Emergency telephone charge.

  • (a)

    There is imposed a monthly emergency telephone charge of $.70 cents per month, per exchange access facility, per wireless communications access and per interconnected voice-over-internet-protocol service on telephone service within the city. Any person providing, exchange telephone services, telecommunications service via wireless carrier, or interconnected voice-over-internet-protocol service to any user within the city shall collect and remit the charge to the city as required by C.R.S. § 29-11-103, as amended.

    (b)

    All proceeds from the charge shall be used to pay for the installation, equipment, and other directly related costs of the continued operation of the city's emergency telephone system, as set forth in C.R.S. § 29-11-104, as amended, which costs include personnel expenses necessarily incurred for the city's public safety answering point.

    (c)

    All proceeds from the charge shall be credited to a cash fund kept apart from the city's general fund in accordance with C.R.S. § 29-11-104, as amended.

    (d)

    The city shall not commence collection of the charge until January 1, 2020.
