§ 2-442. Retaliation prohibited.
(a)
No supervisor shall initiate or administer any disciplinary action against an employee on account of the employee's disclosure of information. This section shall not apply to:
(1)
An employee who discloses information that the employee knows to be false or who discloses information with disregard for the truth or falsity thereof;
(2)
An employee who discloses information which is confidential and/or nondisclosable under any provision of law.
(b)
Any employee who wishes to disclose information under the protection of this article shall first provide such information to one's supervisor. If the matter remains unresolved, the employee shall provide the information to one's department director, then to the city manager, and finally to the mayor or a city councilmember.
