§ 14-142. Definitions.

  • The following words, terms and phrases, when used in this article, shall have the meanings ascribed to them in this section, except where the context clearly indicates a different meaning:

    Building trades contractor means any person permitted to construct residential garages, carports, sheds, decks, internal nonstructural and nonbearing remodeling, commercial nonstructural and nonbearing remodeling only, fences, paving, street cuts, siding, sign installations, slabs for sidewalks and driveways.

    Contractor means any building trades, electrical, general, mechanical, plumbing or set up contractor as defined in this section.

    Electrical contractor means any person permitted to perform all electrical work; must supply the city with a copy of the state master electrician's license.

    General contractor means any person permitted to construct both commercial and residential new buildings; also permitted to do the same type of work as a building trades contractor; also permitted to perform structural remodeling work.

    Mechanical contractor means any person permitted to perform all mechanical work, sheet metal, heating and air cooling systems.

    Plumbing contractor means any person permitted to perform all plumbing and mechanical work; also permitted to install fire protection systems, but required to submit a copy of the state master plumber's license.

    Set-up contractor means any person permitted to set up mobile homes with the exception of electrical work; also permitted to install patio covers, decks and carports on mobile homes only.
